John Colin Coomans

I was born on Sunday, 21st January 1996 at 5.40 pm. My apologies to my cousin Michael for sharing his birthday.

When I was born, I weighed 4515g (10lb), and I was 54.5cm (21.5in) long. (Dad did the conversion to imperial for me). Most people say that this is big, but my Aunty Els would have been happy to have a baby as small as me.

If you look at the photo of me you'll see that my head looks pretty funny, which normally doesn't happen when you are born by ceasarean like I was. The reason for this is I made the mistake of trying to come out face forward instead of face backward. This resulted in my getting, well, stuck. Dad says that I tried to come out this way because I am a goose. I don't understand what this means.

Notice in this photo of my Mum, how she looks really tired and pale. Dad says that this is also because I am a goose. Whatever it means, lots of things sure seem to depend on my being one.

Here's a rather unflattering photo of me having my first bath. I would rather not have included this one...

Anyway, I look forward to meeting you all (or, as they say in Texas, yawl) in person some time soon. As my Dad writes this for me, I'm still at Jamison Hospital in Penrith, but soon I'll be able to go home to Springwood, where I can start to seriously compete against our cat Monica for space in my room and time on the laps of my parents.
