Event Background

For the past three years, The Goi Peace Foundation and the World Peace Prayer Society have supported the Symphony of Peace Prayers, hosted by the Byakko Shinko Kai, and conducted at the foot of Mt Fuji.

In 2006 10,000 people attended the event. The day was divided into two parts.

The first was the recitation of prayers from various world religions, led by representatives from each. Leaders from the Buddhist, Christian, Islamic, Jewish and Shinto faiths led participants in their prayers for peace, followed by commemorative messages from a number of other religious representatives.

The second half of the event is a world peace prayer and flag ceremony in which everyone united to pray for peace on earth across all the planet.

Dr Laszlo felt the time was right to include potentially hundreds of thousand more people in the prayer for Peace on Earth. He issued an invitation to all the national chapters of The Club of Budapest globally inviting them to create in their own countries, A Global Peace Meditation Day event.
